Nice little beach

March 2023 • Couples

It's a good 25 minute walk down from the main road and about the same up!! Another 10 minutes through the jungle to the beach. I think there is an occasional taxi downstairs if you wish to wait. Nice little beach. A bit rocky in places, especially at low tide. Swim to the right as there are fewer rocks. You can haggle for the sunbeds. $10 for 2 beds and an umbrella. They want you to be happy! But beware! Make sure you bring your own drinks and snacks as the vendors will rip you off!! It's not a pleasant experience trying to get back the money you're owed, but I didn't want to give in!!

Great beach!

March 2023

My family stumbled across this beach as we were leaving our hotel and decided to turn left instead of right on our last day in Costa Rica. There was ample on street parking and we saw monkeys and other animals on the way to the beach. On the beach you can rent sun beds and umbrellas and buy groceries. Make sure to go into the water on the far right as it's very rocky everywhere else.

Quaint, small public beach

March 2023

Quaint, small public beach. A bit of a walk from the main street but an easy walk from the nearby Shana by the Sea Hotel. Sand wasn't the best quality, waves were gentle, a bit rocky in places but flat.

beautiful beach

August 2022

This beach was great for swimming if you have smaller children. Not for surfing, but a wonderfully relaxing spot.

A corrupt group of men who charge you for chairs then won't let you go without paying twice. Hang supports them

March 2023 • Family

The beach was small and beautiful, we all had no waves. A terrible group of men charging for chairs and umbrellas which is the norm but we paid for them and used them they wouldn't let us go without paying again! ! ! Terrible, horrible, scary experience so don't go that route. The people on the street also charge for using the public toilet!!!! The government needs to get a better handle on this situation. It ruined our trip to this area, in other areas of Costa Rica we have not experienced the men like this.

Nice beach but beware of the scammer

March 2023 • Family

My wife and I went to the beach to get away from the madness at Manuel Antonio. There should be chairs down there. 3 young men approached us and offered the chairs for $10 each. We have paid. They also had a food and drink menu. Bought a burger and we had drinks. The drinks were terrible for $17. We don't think they put alcohol on them. The burger tasted like the meat was rotten. As we were leaving, one of the young men demanded that we pay an extra $10 since the first payment was a "deposit" for each chair. When we started arguing with him he whistled and got the attention of the other 5 young men standing there. and called her over. Very menacing. We have paid. Escalating makes no sense. Avoid them at all costs

Nice beach but the locals are menacing. Slimy area of men.

March 2023 • Couples

A group of young men renting chairs, umbrellas and drinks. They agreed on their price and paid, and then when we tried to leave they wanted more money. I said no and he whistled to be his crew / Very scary. We also saw another couple chatting to them when we arrived.

Great beach but difficult to access

March 2023

This beach is beautiful, many local families enjoy the day here on weekends. The sand is great and the water is calm. There are providers who rent chairs and umbrellas for a reasonable price. You can buy drinks and snacks, also at good prices.
Our hotel was “On the Beach” but we had to walk down a steep gravel path for a good 20 minutes. It was so difficult that we chose a different beach for much of our week here.

The precarious descent was worth the amazing water in the sheltered bay

February 2023

Nice calm waters in a cove on a less crowded, albeit smaller, beach.

The dangerous walk down to the beach requires decent shoes and mobility.

However, this climb and the rockier nature of the sand make for a less crowded site. Therefore, renting chairs/umbrellas is cheaper than other places.

This is a quiet beach with a small food stall and a restaurant serving it. No one is offering their goods or services.

Interestingly the music was classic and soft rock and perfect for chilling for adults. If you have kids, they won't find much sand to build castles with, but they'll enjoy the water.

Crowded and noisy

February 2023 • Couples

Rocky walk down to a stunning cove. The bay is pretty but just too crowded and noisy. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet area this is not for you. 2 sunbeds and umbrella are $20.
